Call to Worship (Ephesians 5:20, Thom Shuman)
Give thanks to God!
We thank God for joy, for laughter, for abundant blessings of every kind.
Give thanks to God at all times and for everything!
We thank God, when we can and as we can, for struggles, for solitude, for fears.
Give thanks to God at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We thank God that, in Christ, our joys as well as our pain, our losses as well as our laughter, are in God’s heart and hands.

We have waited patiently for God, and he has heard our cry. He has set our feet on solid ground, and kept us steady as we journey together.
God, you have put a new song into our mouths, a song of praise to you.
May the world know that you have sent us by the song of your love in our lives.
Response Peace Be Upon You
Peace be upon you and guard you forever. Go in the knowledge that God is with you.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
TN Disciples Women's Retreat - September 18, 2021
Due to increased COVID restrictions, we are having a one-day retreat this fall! It is exciting to be able to see each other again even with the implementation of social distancing and wearing masks! We know so many of us are always anxious to once again enjoy the peace, solitude, and beauty of our place in the woods! We will share via zoom or Facebook live the Resource Leaders sessions for those of you who are not able to attend in person.
All CDC, Regional, and Bethany Hills protocols will be followed for this weekend: Completion of a COVID-19 vaccination series (1-dose or 2-dose as above) will be required for all Bethany Hills staff, volunteers, and onsite participants for all events. Please call Cathy Conley if you would like to carpool

In the Tithely app please designate your gift to go toward the FCC Building Fund.

Week of Compassion Update:
Thank you for the donations and help for Waverly flood relief last week. First Christian Church was a drop off center during the early part of the week and the Tullahoma and Manchester Fire Departments coordinated efforts to take the donations to Waverly.
Our compassion calls us to action. As a church we unite our efforts through the Week of Compassion, which the website reminds us “is more than a week. It is a ministry of the whole Church, reaching those in need “around the world, around the year.” Any time we respond to a need in the world, we bear witness to the unity of our table, faithfully sharing the gifts that we have as an expression of Christ’s love. In working together with partners, we represent the Disciples of Christ commitment to unity, making our resources reach farther and growing our impact on a global scale.”
You can make donations to the Week of Compassion directly on their website or through the church office. These donations will insure those affected by the flood and those affected by Hurricane Ida will have the assistance they need.

STAFF
Tom Murdock - Senior Pastor
Tom was born in Pensacola Florida and has been living in Tennessee since 1990.
A graduate of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Tom came to the Disciples through several years of searching and prayer. Experiencing Communion on a weekly basis gave new meaning to worship, as a seminary professor had once commented about the first communion between Jesus and Disciples, “How could they ever smell or taste bread and wine and not remember Jesus?”
Tom has served Disciple of Christ congregations in Shelbyville, Union City, and now in Tullahoma where he has been the senior pastor since 2005. He and his wife Angie share their home with two cats.

For the past ten years she has served as the organist for First Christian. In 2014 she also began serving as the music director. Vicki currently devotes most of her time to composing and arranging for different venues she is involved with, including FCC Sanctuary Choir, FCC worship service, Tullahoma Civic Choir, and Motlow State College programs.
Her church music is published with Lorenz Publishing, Hope Publishing and Hal Leonard.
